Pebble Pounder Location: Titletown | In Expo? I think, Or can't remeber the settings you can adjust power applied forward and reverse. up to 150% I think also in Travel their is a setting as well that can change a lot of this. I wont let the kids touch my Exo buggy anymore simpply because I use to let my 5 year old run it but I wouls set the power limit down to 50% or less according vs 150% whan I ran it. I have been thinging about jumping up to a higher end Specktrum Radio, but Have had no issues with Dx3c at all, so I havent worried about it. I know there is a card copy for a SD card, so you can litterally copy you model setting onto the SD card and instatly load them on a new Dx3c or higher Spektrum Radio. Not sure when this featue came out but I know its on mine. Look at The manual or I think Spektrum has the in PDF on thier website. My only problem I havent been able to fix and I am not sure if its me, Spektrum Radio's, Spektrum itself or the recivers. Is I can not get the range I would really like out of them. It's sad to day that My kids have a cheapo Hobby town 1/18 scale Dominus and they get almost as much range with that as I get with mine. |

I wanna be Dave Location: San Francisco | No problem. The DX3C will control a dig and has model memory. It will basically be exactly like your DX3E but with model memory and a little different look/placement of switches etc. The GT3B is a cheap Chinese radio ($35 FlySky FS-GT3B Digital 3ch 2.4ghz TX & RX LCD Transmitter & Receiver). Out of the box it is a bit limited in functionality for crawlers but it does have model memory and all the basic functions of a computerized radio. There are a lot of people using this radio in all kinds of surface RC (cars, trucks, buggies, crawlers, etc). Someone figured out how to hack the radio to allow the user to update it with new firmware, then they wrote the new firmware (multiple revisions now and still going strong). By updating the code in the radio it allows us more options for programming and allows the use of extra channels built into the hardware that were 'blocked off' by the original software. Losikid is a vendor on here who offers complete kits to hack the radio and also sells radios that he has already hacked. You can read about it in more detail in this thread: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/elect...ch-thread.html. Basically it allows you to use up to 8 channel receivers, I am not aware of any other pistol grip radios that allow the use of more than 4 channels. Also it allows advanced channel mixing that is very useful in crawling, you can use this to run dual esc's on an MOA (motor on axle basically two motors directly mounted on each axle) rig or to add 4 wheel steering. The difference in the mixing on this radio and the Spektrum radios is that the Spektrum radios dont allow you to control a mix with the switches to adjust the bias (front to rear) of the power to each axle on an MOA rig or switching 4 wheel steering on an off or going from regular 4ws to crab walking etc. Also with scalers often you will want to control lights, dig, 4ws, winch, etc. The extra channels help out because you can keep adding accessories without worrying about running out of channels to run them off of. Another great benifit is that the receivers are between $10-15 depending on the # of channels. To compare a Spektrum receiver will run you between $25-50 or more depending on the model. You say you want to get more rigs, well if you get 2 more figure on spending $30 on receivers instead of $100 if you go with the GT3B rather than a Spektrum radio or another 'name brand' company. For the price of your DX3E you can get a radio with top of the line features, what is not to like? Don't worry about buying features that you dont want right now. Take it from me, if you plan on staying in the hobby for a while you will end up wanting some if not all of the additional features that the hacked GT3B offers over more expensive name brand equipment. |
